Here are the loves of my life...after 28 hours on the road. I'll let them tell you their thoughts...
Well, leaving is always hard for all of us. We shed some tears as we pulled out of Hope and soon realized that all of us had some fears regarding what lie ahead. So, we put all our worries and scrunched them up in our hands, (Grandpas health, storms at home, our dog, and of course Becca's hamster!) prayed and opened our hands, releasing the worries to God. This was a great lesson that our good friend Irv taught us. We left at 9:00am Tuesday morning...28 hours and a few pee breaks later we arrived at Mt. Rushmore! Our girls are champion travellers, a few songs, a couple movies, some snacks, a little silly putty in their hair...on their pants...on their shirts...on the van seat...you get the idea!! Jeff drove until 3:30p.m. and then I took over until 6:30 while he slept on the couch. Gus is the sweetest van to travel in! Jeff had a great sleep and we got in our jammies at some seedy truck stop. I love tucking the girls into the van for the night. 3 buckle up in the bed, I sleep on the middle bench, Kaitlyn sleeps up front. We slept from around 9:30 pm until 7:30 am, which is great. We bought some milk at a convenience store and had our mini wheat breakfast in the van, and I took over, once again, so Jeff could sleep. He slept for a few hours and then drove the last couple to Mt. Rushmore.
We had a great afternoon walking around Mt. Rushmore and stretching our legs, and now we are relaxing at the hotel.
Big plans for tomorrow, Wall Drug and the Corn Palace. With those kind of stops I know we'll have amazing stories for you! - Ang
