We got our internet and phone hooked up today so I thought we'd kind of start where we left off. Last Saturday we went to a UT Football game with Greg and Tyler. (Jeff adds... It was an intersquad scrimmage - the "Orange and White" game - so I think they only had about 30,000 people show up...4x the population of Hope for an intersquad scrimmage!! The stadium seats 106,000 people!! ) We had a blast. We went early so we could meet the team on the field, which was pretty cool. Uncle Mike brought Mamaw and Papaw (we still can't believe they came, but are so glad they did!) Uncle Randy and Auntie Margaret came as well and brought Jonathan and Ruth Anne. We also saw Rachel (she goes to UT) and met her boyfriend David. David was recognized before the game for a four year scholarship he has received because he's super smart. We all enjoyed meeting him and the girls all think he's cute!
After the game we went over to Mike and Steph's for dinner and some visiting, we also celebrated Hannah's 18th birthday with a cake. It has been a real blessing for all of us to spend more time with this side of the family. Doesn't seem to matter where we live, we are always missing someone.
Our house here is amazing!! Greg got a lead on this place through the Samford office and it's all worked out great. It is brand spankin' new, 3 bedrooms, 2 beautiful bathrooms, vaulted ceilings, and it's only a few minutes to Samford!! The drive to the girl's school takes about 15 minutes.
We went to a Good Friday service at the chapel at Beeson Divinity School (on the Samford campus) and it was pretty boring. We didn't sing or anything, just had Scripture read to us, stood for some pre-written prayers and left. I enjoyed the readings but did end up daydreaming just a tad, I did NOT, however, resort to making animal shadows as I have in the past, so I'm pretty proud of myself! The chapel itself is awe inspiring and truly magnificent. I won't be able to describe it at all so we'll attatch some pictures. It made me realize that we have lost so much in our desire to get away from whatever we were getting away from when the church went to white walls and some flowers. For a sample of the chapel check out http://www.beesondivinity.com/clientImages/25215/pdfdocuments/beeson.pdf
or do a google image search for "Andrew Gerow Hodges Chapel"
I'll write soon about the girl's school and hopefully have some pictures of their classes for you.
